American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is the world’s largest aerospace and aeronautics technical society. Its goal is to engage students and professionals alike in aerospace and aeronautical science and engineering. At Florida Tech, we host a variety of different events to ensure this. On top of our general meetings, we host a yearly professional dinner, model rocket builds, model plane builds, help students prepare for the annual Region II student conference, and oversee two engineering competition teams. The two teams are Design Build Fly (DBF), and the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR).
At Florida Tech, I was the Treasurer of the student branch. This means I controlled the collection and disbursement of club finances. I was also responsible for the collection of fundraiser funds, t-shirt sales, membership dues, student conference reimbursements, and spending the collected money. I also submitted requests to the school for additional funding whenever necessary and applicable. All of my actions during my time as treasurer reflected the expectations and requirements of the executive board and AIAA's members.
